The Original Layered Taco Dip

Snacking with friends is always fun especially when you serve classic appetizers. We’ve updated the standard layered taco dip using The ORIGINAL, thanks to our niece Shannon who sent us this recipe. Thank you, Shannon, for this clever new take on a classic! We tried it and we loved how The ORIGINAL offers a superb base of flavor to make all the ingredients warm up and come together. With the first bite, you will fall in love and keep eating because you simply can’t stop! As with all our recipes, if your guests like more heat, feel free to add more spice. For a slightly different twist with more pepper flavor, substitute The ROJO instead. Add any of your favorite veggies to the top. In the photo above, we added super sweet tomatoes from our garden. Make this appetizer your own!

Ingredients:

1 (8 ounce) container sour cream

1 (8 ounce) container cream cheese

2 tablespoons The ORIGINAL Spice Blend

1 (15 ounce) can refried beans

1 cup of your favorite salsa

2 cups of romaine or iceberg lettuce, finely shredded

1 cup shredded cheese (a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack works well)

1 (6 ounce) can sliced green or black olives

Optional: Any additional veggie toppings of your choice

Preparation:

Mix the sour cream, cream cheese, and 1 tablespoon of The ORIGINAL Spice Blend together until combined. Spread mixture on the bottom of an 9x9 dish or any dish of your choice. Mix the refried beans with the remaining tablespoon of seasoning, then gently spread over the cream cheese. Top the beans with the remaining ingredients in layers starting with the salsa, lettuce, shredded cheese and olives and any optional veggies.

Enjoy!
